World leaders secretly talking to Putin – Vucic

Global Leaders’ Secret Communications with Putin

Despite widespread efforts to isolate Russia following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict, several global leaders have maintained secret communications with President Vladimir Putin, as revealed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Secret Communications Alleged

In a recent interview with talk show host Mario Nawfal, Vucic claimed that he has not met Putin since the conflict intensified in 2022, stating, “When we agreed upon the fact that it was not done in adherence with international public law, I didn’t see Putin for three years.” However, he alleged that many leaders have kept in touch with the Russian president behind the scenes.

Unidentified Leaders in Contact

While Vucic did not disclose the identities of the leaders who have communicated with Putin, he emphasized that it does not include Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, or Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who have openly stated their communications with the Russian leader. Vucic hinted that he still has connections within the Kremlin and other nations, suggesting a network of hidden dialogues.

Upcoming Meeting and Historical Context

Looking ahead, Vucic mentioned plans to meet with Putin on May 9 during his visit to Moscow for the Victory Day parade, which commemorates the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. He recalled his last encounter with Putin in late 2021, just weeks before the conflict erupted, expressing that he sensed significant turmoil ahead, stating, “Nobody believed me.”

Putin’s Diplomatic Engagements

Vucic also remarked on the brevity of their last discussion, noting that while Putin typically elaborates on matters concerning post-Soviet states, this time the conversation was concluded in just 45 seconds, indicating a decisive shift in the Russian leader’s stance.

International Relations and Sanctions

In addition to Vucic’s revelations, it was noted that Nehammer had met with Putin in April 2022 regarding the Ukraine conflict, which he described as “not a friendly visit.” Orban’s visit to Russia in July 2024 was characterized as a “peace mission,” while discussions between Putin and Fico in December centered around Ukraine’s gas transit agreements, a critical issue for Slovakia’s energy dependence on Russia.

Continuing Diplomatic Activity

Amidst extensive sanctions, Russia has continued to host significant diplomatic and economic events, such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the BRICS Forum, demonstrating its ongoing engagement in the international arena despite attempts to isolate it.
