Significant Events
The year 1691 marked a noteworthy development in the realm of law enforcement in Macau. Initially, the responsibility for maintaining public order was handled by the military presence in Portuguese Macau. This duty was first managed by the troops of the Portuguese Navy, and later transitioned to the Portuguese Army, which officially took over internal security functions on March 14, 1691.
